- 23 Jan 01 Veh tech: Diesel vehicle manufacturers start developing vehicles to clear the next long-term exhaust regulations Automakers that manufacture diesel engine vehicles plan to introduce models clearing PM volumes to be stipulated in the 2005 long-term exhaust regulations before the implementation of the 2003 short-term regulations. This is in line with the government's decision to move up date of the long-term regulations from 2007. In the new long-term regulations, the allowable concentration of particulate matter will be 0.09g, about 30 percent of the current level. In response to this, the petroleum industry has decided to reduce sulfur ratio in light oil by 90 percent in 2003.
